What are you waiting for?  I generally like to go on Black Friday... but not thinking that this year will be one of those years?!  The ads will have to prove themselves.  How about coming into say "Hi" to me as you go into Tangled Threads and check out all there goodies!  They have a cute Christmas room full of fun easy projects! Such as these......

HoHOHo Pillow!! What a cute addition to your holiday decor this year!
And what about the candy everone likes the peppermint red and white candy... I don't even know the real name... is that sad? Please tell me if you do.

With the holiday parties starting remember that if you are in a pinch and need something cute and easy for a gift we have options...

Like these ornaments......
Or these ever so adorable fuzzy slippers!
One touch of these slippers you will want one for yourself as well as one of each of your friends... I just wish I had feet to put them on. Maybe I will put them on my hands... hmmm that is an idea!

DERBY DAY

GUESS WHAT!?!?
Sharylann came in super excited today she could not contain herself... of course I didn't tell her I heard her screaming all the way from the fair, but Tom (her youngest) took first in his demo derby heat!

He was so excited along with the whole family!  I wish I could have been there it seemed like so much fun! This is what his truck looked like in the end. By the way if you look at the fireman on the left with the red hat (that is Sharylann's Hubby)!

Poor Chris (tom's friend) got a little more beat up, but he did great!

But the important thing is no one got hurt, everyone had fun and it is done (until next year)

happy hot Sunday!

Happy Sunday to all my favorite people!!
I just have to say I love these days... a day to sit and be a family! Do you ever just sit and think about the importance of family? How special they are? Why God placed those certain people in your life?

You may not always know why, but it is fun to be able to know they are there. No one can replace a family no matter what kind of family you have. If you live close by or far away. If you talk to them everyday or once a year... they are still family and the only family you'll have.  Sometimes we can get in such a busyness of life we forget how special they are. How much you're loved.

I love watching families! They are my favorite people to "people watch."  As the go on walks, go into church, ride by in their cars every family is different in there own way, but they are all FAMILIES! And nothing is going to change that.

Tomorrow starts the day of a long awaited fun filled exciting week.  It is fair week! Bus loads of people drive by many many times a day.  And I think I have told you about my favorite day... demo derby day! So that means unfortunatly Sharylann will not be working tomorrow, but Tangled Threads will be open.

Oh I almost forgot I saw this past week Sharylann working on the most amazing quilt.. I love it! If I had a house (or even a bed) I would make this one.  Love the colors, the fabric and it is a Marti Michell block of the month. Check it out.... what do you think?

Isn't it just fantastic! You should check out all the other classes coming up. Can't wait! These are just a few of the blocks! :)
happy Sunday All!

One of those days....

do you ever just have "one of those days?"

It is pretty crazy here in good ol' Lynden. We have had such nice HOT weather (well for us it is hot). But last night we got to experience one of those thunder/lightening storms! It was pretty fun/crazy.

If you don't know Lynden our town is so busy preparing for the annual week of fair! The Northwest Washington Fair that is. It is always so busy that week (Which is next week ) people laughing having a good time. I watch the bus go by who knows how many times picking up all super excited people and then dropping off the really tired ones.  If you have never been you should! Especially the quilt barn! There are some quilts there you just stand with your mouth open saying nothing. They are AMAZING!!!

Then there are the concerts.... I can hear them from where I stand so proud. And they have some good shows coming to town this year. :) My favorite is to hear the roar of the engines on the Demo Derby. Partially because my "adopted son" Tom (actually Sharylann's son, but I like to think of him as mine too!) drives in it. This year he has a black and red truck. His friend has one too the same colors his name is Chris... so you could really go for either one! :) Just yell loud. Usually I can hear Sharylann from here rootin' and yelling so loud for her little boy. (Don't tell her that)

Anyhoo, about today it can be one of those days that turns from good to bad to good again to blah to who knows what is happening! With the business of fair week aproaching, new classes coming up, to the headaches, sleepless nights, funny songs little kids make up my week has been eventful at that as well as I am thinking Thelma and Sharylann's.

So I have this question for you all.... what do you do to calm your stress? Read a book, take 5, quilt, nap.... Or like me stand here and focus on happy things or just being able to walk and not have to roll everywhere...this quote not sure if anyone has notice sits about the window at Tangled Threads.... I just love it and it can apply to your life in so many ways.

Grandma's?!

Who's a Grandma or now a days you can be a ....... Grandma, Nana, Gma, Grandy, Oma, or someother fun name in which your darling little grandchildren call you!!

What fun! And guess what? This fall Tangled Threads is helping you out! They are going to do this "Grandma" Class, in my opinion you can be an Auntie, a mom, Grandma or a friend who wants to make these fun projects!

Sharylann and her daughter (my personal favorite!!) Alanna have some fun ideas, but they are looking for more. Is there something you have been wanting to make for someone you just aren't sure how to do it? Let me know I will pass on the word.
And keep your eyes and ears open you won't want to miss out! It will be an ongoing as long as you are wanting to be apart of it :)

Summer time!!

Welcome to official summer......

What do you think of when you are in mid-late July and the sun is shining and it is hot outside?
Me, I think of how I would love to be in cooler clothes! Wearing the same clothes EVERY single day does get quite boring.  I also think about sprinklers, swimming pool, fresh berries, water fights, fun at the park, lemonade, sun tea... and camping!! Oh how I'd just love to go camping! :) If only I was allowed to travel.

You know that it isn't all I think about!  I also think about the people who have their birthdays so close to Christmas...... and how busy it gets will all the Holiday celebrations. And how fun would it be to have a Christmas birthday...well... let me rephrase that IF I had a birthday by Christmas I would celebrate TWICE!  Once on my real day of birth and how about in the middle of Summer!!! You know you have "Christmas in July" for a reason.  It is to celebrate those birthdays!!

I heard Sharylann and Thelma talking the other day about this sale they are having tomorrow July 18 it is called a Christmas Sale!! What fun! I haven't got to see their new Christmas room yet, but when the friendly, nice looking man dressed in brown brings a package or more to Tangled Threads sometimes he lets me peak at what is inside and boy oh boy!! There is some cute Christmas fabric! :)

Who says you can't get a head start on Christmas gifts... maybe you had newly weds this summer they'll need stockings to go up in their new home, or a Christmas wall hanging! Oh the ideas could flow forever.....

BTW: I just talked to Sharylann and this is what she told me ...... the sale is a SURPRISE!!! OH I love surprises, don't you!? So you better come check it out so they have more fun sales like this. :)
There are so many kits, but only a few of this one left!

Well the popsicle that is now 1/2 melted is calling my name! See you tomorrow.

I only wish Sharylann would let me swim In a pool. I am just glad I have the kind of skin that doesn't burn! :) I hope you all are staying as cool as possible in your summer heat!

Have fun with your family and friends and BE SAFE!! And if you don't have anything to do tonight you can come sit by me (well stand) !  I have a pretty good seat for the firework shows around town! :)

One Week Left......

Do you know that one of my favorite times of the year is coming up?

No, it isn't my birthday, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Valentines Day or any other holiday. It is the SHOP HOP!!! Yipee, that is when I get to see so many happy, busy people! Some dash out of there car get a stamp and back in they go.... others get there stamp and shop! It  is so much fun! Especially because I love to people watch.  And some of the purses or bags these ladies carry are so stinkin' cute!! And they made them. WESTERN WASHINGTON SHOP HOP 2012 starts next week Thursday June 21 and goes through June 24.

The week before always seems to be a little busy getting things ready for Shop Hop.  There are always people coming in and out helping with various projects... Sharylann even tried to get me to paint.... lucky for me I can't come indoors!! :) I'm allergic to painting! There you know something else about me.

So last night somehow Thelma and Sharylann got a whole herd of people to help put together their block kits! What awesome friends! And look they all look pretty happy.

Don't you think? Wait, I even see Keith (Sharylann's husband) oh boy! Did you know that there are some ladies that actually want him to pick out their fabric?? It's true! And I've heard they come back looking just for him!

So you all better be planning and coming on the Western Washington Shop Hop 2012! I saw the fabric and it is CUTE!! Way better (I think) this year than it has been in the past years!! You can use it for all kinds of other projects not just the shop hop quilt!

Can't wait to see you! Oh and remember I LOVE to get my picture taken! :)

Ruffles, Ruffles!!

It's raining it's pouring the old man is snoring.......

You know there is something about rain, yes, it does make you want to stay inside curl up, stay warm or maybe do some baking! But how about making a fun easy project on your sewing machine!?  Have you heard about Thangled Threads ruffles? Oh, they are great!

This ruffle fabric I love! Sometimes you just need a little pizzaz to your outfit and you just don't know what to add. The necklace doesn't look right or it is chilly outside. And what fun! They have these scarf kits that NO JOKE take only one seam! Nothing else you can make these in less than 5minutes flat! I know someone who even made them for all her sisters and sister-in-laws!! What a great idea! :)

And what about this cute little dress?  You just buy a shirt that you like then match it with  a ruffle fabric and sew it on the bottom.... Sharylann can tell you how!! But I know my adopted grand daughter LOVES it!! And how easy!

So what do you think?? I think you need to come have a "sew day" during this rain... unless of course you are somewhere that is super nice and sunny then you need a "sew day" out of the heat! You don't want to get sun burned! :)

Happy Monday!

Boy oh boy could someone bring an umbrella? I am not a fan of getting my hair wet. Could we order a dose of sunshine? Sorry I don't mean to complain I guess that is what we get in beautiful Washington! So I survived the weekend holding down the shop while Thelma and Sharylann had a busy weekend. Thelma had a great time at the Quilt show in Sedro Wooley, and Sharylann took care of her grand kids! So I am sure if you stop by the coffee will be on and you could share a cup with them in between the yawns. I am just glad there are no zzzzzzzzzzzz's coming out the door! I do a lot of thinking sitting out front, well standing to be totally truthful. I love cake! And lately I have wondered a lot about red velvet cake. Why does it have to be red? Could you make let's say green velvet? Or blue velvet? Would itmtastemthe same? Or do you think your mind would play a trick on you and it wouldn't taste as good? Just thinking. Another thought. If it is April showers bring May flowers, what does May bring June? Sunshine? Maybe if you weren't in lynden! Or brings mJune berries? That is a good one. Oh man, when the breeze is just right you can smell the sweet smell of strawberries.....yummy! Well that is enough thinking for me......p.s did you know I love my picture to be taken! Especially with others!

American

Good Morning!
Are you proud to be an American? I sure am.  As I stand out front of Tangled Threads this morning there I am surrounded by red, white and blue.  I love this.  All around our small town we have flags along the streets honoring those who have and are fighting for our country. We want to thank them for the choice they made to make us a free nation. Thank you to all who serve and have served!!

Memorial Day reminds me also of the beautiful American Heritage BOM that will be starting June 6, 2012.  It is a quilt that speaks to you.  You should come and take a look. Just think you could make this for that special someone who has served for our country!!

I'm proud to be an American where atleast I know I am free!! Thank You!! Let's continue to support and take care of our "fighters!"
